The best of the Northwest came together over the weekend to take part in the grueling Willare 4 hour Enduro. The tough dry conditions of the Kimberley tested both man and machine for the 10th anniversary event.
There was record number of entries in the E3 class, and quite possibly a record number of DNF’s! With nine of the previous years top 10 finishers all lined up at the start to have a crack at the elusive outright title.
2018 winner Tom O’Connell was the favourite from the start, with two Willare titles already under his belt. However, with 2015 & 2017 winner young gun Jake Watling also vying for the top of the podium the racing was set to be fierce. Not one to disappoint, Tom showed his respect for the desert racing event by capturing the title in 4:00.59, with an event record hot lap in just 33 minutes. Watling claimed second place in 4:08.33, with Michael McKellar taking third place in 4:28.07.
Other notable performances were father daughter Pony team; Chris Radford and Amelia Radford.
The festivities continued into the night with the traditional Willare chilli eating competition, raffle prizes and an auction of local art and produce.
