As many of you know, St John’s Ambulance WA emergency response personnel are under considerable strain and MWA requests to secure their advanced care services were unsuccessful. This means that St John WA, as the State’s emergency services provider, cannot provide paramedic qualified medical responder and ambulance services to be physically present on the State MX Championship event dates.
MWA (& WAMX as the event Promoter) has secured Paramedic qualified, advanced care medical responders to be in attendance for the remainder of the Motocross State Championship season (Rounds 5 – 6). WAMX, as promoter of the State Round series, is required to provide a higher standard of qualified medical first responders for the State events.
A private company has been engaged to provide 2 Registered Paramedics, 2 first aid/medical team support personnel and an Ambulance, authorised to undertake emergency patient transport (if required) on each day of the metropolitan events. These services are being provided by Perth Medical Volunteers (not a free volunteer service). Their qualified staff are able to provide advanced life support and critical care response (inclusive of administering “restricted” pain relief medication) and are supported by an on-call Doctor.
Initially, MWA were required to consider applying an additional $10 rider levy to competitor registration/entry fees in Ridernet for the remainder of the series and this was set up for entries. MWA has been able to absorb the additional cost for this service and any competitor who has entered and had the levy applied, will be refunded this amount. Riders who have already entered and paid the additional levy are requested to contact MWA (p 93715333 or email mail@motorcyclingwa.org.au).
