MWA has (and continues to) received daily inquiries about the COVID19 requirements for (our) 2022 motorcycle sporting events, in light of recent State Government mandates for double vaccination, proof of vaccinations and what impact this will have on our “community sporting” events.
MWA will be led by State Government / WA Health advice on this matter and will make decisions based on the current advice and recommendations, particularly with the daily updates and advice about the Omicron variant in our community. With the opening of WA borders and increased travel into WA from 5 February, like everyone else in the State, the level of uncertainty about what this brings is unsettling.
Importantly, community sport events, unless at one of the specific (indoor/stadium) venues listed by the State Government in recent announcements, are currently exempt from the proof of vaccination requirement.
MWA will adopt the following processes and recommended advice to help keep our members, officials, competitors and spectators safe.
- Events with more than 500 patrons are required to complete a COVID Event Checklist or Plan. All MWA / WAMX promoted State MX Championship events will have this requirement in place (as we did last year).
- You can help keep WA safe by checking in by using the ServiceWA (or SafeWA) app, or by leaving your details on a contact register.
- It is recommended you wear a mask outdoors where physical distancing is not possible.
- MWA Affiliated Clubs and Promoters are encouraged to promote vaccinations recommendations to their key (event) staff and club members (I know it is a personal choice)
MWA encourages you to continue to review the www.wa.gov.au site for all the latest information.
Stay safe and well
