As we say goodbye to what has been a very different 2020 MX Season, the dust has not yet settled as the recent date and track release was debuted from the new WAMX event manager, Hannah Lawton.
After the recent uplift of many group restrictions, WA riders were finally able to participate and spectate at the last few WAMX rounds for the 2020 season. The last round saw many riders flock to the start gate as the WAMX event committee said their final goodbyes to a positive and long lasting relationship with the organisation of the state motocross series. Motorcycling Western Australia will be bringing the championship in house for the 2021 season in hopes of adding flare to the series whilst further developing club relationships and promotion.
Hannah Lawton, an experienced and long term staff member at Motorcycling WA will be taking over as the State Series Manager and went on to comment about the championship, “I am looking forward to working with our clubs, sponsors, members and stakeholders to deliver a revitalized edition of the State Motocross Championship Series.
We have sought feedback from a variety of industry people and organisations, then taken that feedback on board to rework the series.
“Communicating with the clubs and riders and hearing their needs, has been key in helping us choose the direction to head with the series. Our role is to support the host clubs as much as we can and make the experience enjoyable for everyone”.
A range of clubs across the State will be participating in the Championship ranging from Esperance MC to Coastal Park Motorcycle Club. Giving junior and senior riders the platform and setting to further develop their skills and be tested on track as they take to some of the best tracks W.A has to offer. Manjimup Motorcycle Club, a long standing and well known club to many commented, “we can finally announce we have the opening round. We can’t wait to welcome you all back to Cosy Creek in 2021. Let’s get riding”.
The positive outcome for the series is welcomed with open arms by clubs and riders as many have felt the brunt of COVID-19 this year in many ways in terms of riding. Motorcycling Western Australia are pleased to announce these dates as they collaborate with a number of clubs, with the aim of providing some great racing. Check out the dates on the WAMX tab under “Events” on our website.
