Round 2 of the BanhamsWA Junior Road Race State Championship was a great display of the junior talent we have here in WA.
In the most challenging of conditions, riders managed to negotiate the new Collie Motorplex layout with only one small crash over the 2 days.
One short qualifying session saw Yamaha rider Jayden Martin #85 take pole with Hayden Treversh #8 and William Wasley #16 completing the front row of the grid.
Hayden Treversh’s lighting starts on board his Honda CBR150 saw him take the hole shot in race one and two, leading the riders through the treacherous mixed conditions.
Martin managed to take the win from Treversh in race one and race two finished with a close drag race from the last turn to see Martin again take the win less than a bike length in front of Treversh.
Cale Haines #92 took third in race one and Wasley took third in race two, finishing off the podium positions.
Race three was the highlight of the event with 4 riders battling for the win in shocking conditions.
The riders came together on more than one occasion and even a few excursions off track occurred from pushing hard to overtake each other.
Even with this hard racing in terrible conditions, the riders demonstrated the greatest skill in managing to keep their bikes upright and recover from any mistakes made.
Race three ended with the top four crossing the line within one second of each other with Treversh taking the win from Haines, Wasley and Martin back in fourth.
