Rolling into the Coastal Motocross club of Penguin Tasmania, nerves and excitement of all the competitors and parents could be felt and seen across all the faces as they begun setup of the pits for the next 7 days of non-stop racing action.
We caught up with Steve Payne to chat about the exciting trip across the Nullabor to help get all the WA competitors bikes across to this event. As per plan it all ran smoothly passing through all quarantine points without a drama or hassle and enjoying the boat ride over.
Their trip began on Monday morning with Steve behind the wheel whilst co-pilot Cody Chittick kept the chit chat alive which helped the tedious trip pass by quickly. The pair arrived at the track on Friday morning 8:00am and begun setup for the WA crew and their allocated pit bays.
Track workers were hard at work on arrival prepping the track and putting up the final signage and promotion for the event, tracks looking smooth and fast with some fresh changes to the layout which will make a clean slate for all riders making the home ground advantage a little tougher for the South Siders. The word on the street, from an inside track preparation team member, is there will be a deep rip before racing begins to loosen up the hard clay surface and form up some nice deep ruts.
Rider sign on begins tomorrow (Saturday) which rolls on all day with riders briefing and practice beginning from Sunday morning 8:00am.
