In partnership with Chain Reaction Motorcycles, the MWA Women's committee held its first ‘Garage Day’ on Sat 24th March at the Chain Reaction Motorcycles workshop in Welshpool. Chain Reaction M/C owner Peter Clark welcomed everyone to the workshop and said that he was pleased to be able to support the growth of women in the sport.
The women were hosted by mechanics Paul and Hamish who were happy to spend time showing everyone some of the basics they need to know to be able to maintain their bikes in premium condition as well as how to make sure the bikes are prepared for self scrutineering this year.
Hamish and Paul went through basic scrutineering checks and then amped it up looking at how to maintain brakes and callipers, recognising wearing bearings, tightening spokes, to checking head clamps, chain tightening as well as much more discussion on the importance of a good maintenance routine and re greasing after ongoing pressure cleans.
Everyone enjoyed the day and reported learning some new things which will help them to keep their bikes in tip top condition and more importantly, to recognise when something isn’t right.
The day ended with a sausage sizzle for lunch and a check out of Paul’s baby the Dyno machine and how much extra power can be gained from a tune.
All attendees were also given a discount voucher for any future work at Chain Reaction M/C.
What an awesome day!! Massive thanks to the crew at Chain Reaction Motorcycles and remember to support the businesses that support the women. Don’t forget to give Peter, Paul and Hamish a call for any work you need on your bikes.
