Friday 9th February 2018 marks the commencement of infrastructure building at Cranbrook Districts Motorcycle Club's home track Sukey Hill.
The development of this new facility in our states Greater Southern Region is a positive step for motocross in WA and an exciting opportunity for riders of all ages to enhance their skills at a new venue.
Smith Constructions and Scott Gardiner Architects have teamed with the Shire of Cranbrook to build a Scrutineer/First Aid Hut complete with a disabled toilet. This project has been made possible via funds from the Royalties for Regions program.
This is a much-awaited permanent facility and will make life easier for committee members who are currently operating the club out of a mobile trailer. Club President Justin Shepherd, also a Motorcycling WA qualified machine examiner, said he is looking forward to scrutineering bikes undercover in this facility and not having to take home race day flags and vests to wash and dry.
St John Ambulance volunteers are also excited about using the hut, which has a drive through feature that allows easy motocross track access. In addition to having a fully decked out first aid room thanks to the generous donation of surplus doctors surgery equipment by the Shire of Cranbrook.
The building is expected to be completed by June, ready for when Cranbrook hosts the South West Interclub Championships on Sunday 15th July.
It is not expected that site construction by builders Smith Construction will interfere with the clubs scheduled events or monthly practice.
The 2018 season marks our second year at this venue, which kicks off with an all ages Moss Institute of Motocross & Supercross Coaching clinic on the weekend 14/15 April.
