Wow what a day!! – The day dawned balmy and the atmosphere was very positive and the track looked awesome.
This sand track is lived up to its reputation and bit a lot of riders throughout the day. Racing was fast and furious all day long and there were a few shake-ups in the classes throughout the day.

The “Shannons Insurance MX1” Championship class was dominated by Dean Porter who came out all guns blazing. Over all three heats, the minor placings changed with Julian Cutjajar finishing second in Moto 2 and John Darroch doing the same in Moto3.  Chris Ruttico had an up and down day to finish 5th for the day.

Dean Porter now has a 73 point lead over Michael Mahon and then 39 points back to Chris Ruttico.  The top 10 points are all tightening up and Round 6 will be a thriller!


The “Motul Oils MX2” Championship class showed some outstanding racing with Dylan Sexton taking the first Moto and staying at the pointy end all day long.  Josh Adam had a shocker of the day with bike issues and youngster Mitchell Outram proving that he is up to the task.

3rd: Dylan Sexton
David still leads the championship 87 points clear of Dylan Sexton and 9 points more back to Mitchell Outram.  Josh Adam has now dropped back to 4th in the Championship

Luke Gaisford made a return yesterday to the Make Smoking History Quad Championship Class and Chris Bosnakis suffering more bike issues on the day, Luke took the day’s win. There was action aplenty with rollovers & flying quads throughout the day.

3rd: Shaun Woodhead
The Championship is led by Chris Bosnakis by 30 points to Shaun Woodhead and Blake Croonen sitting a sneaky 6 points behind Shaun.

The Cullys Yamaha Women’s Championship made a return to Shrubland Park and Jess Moore dominated in every Moto. Lily Kent & Hannah Bagnall put in some epic racing on the day.
1st: Jess Moore
2nd: Lily Kent
3rd: Hannah Bagnall
Jess still leads the Championship by 41 points from Hannah and Lily Kent is another 16 points in third place.

The second heat of The Amateur Cup was dominated by local riders Alex & Max Christie with Gary Cook popping into the middle in 2nd place.
The overall of this Mini Series was won by Gary Cook, 2nd place – Brendon Bayliss and Jaxon Turner in third.  With 33 riders riding over the 2 round mini-series, it proved to be successful.

The MX2 Repecharge was a small class on the day and no MX1 Repecharge.

All the action now heads to the final round at Coastal Park in Henderson on a huge double header weekend of 16th & 17th September.
