The new Senior Solo and Sidecar Speedway track at Make Smoking History Pinjar Park Speedway is more than beginning to take shape. The track surface and the race fence are both finished.
On top of that, the limestone retaining wall on the exclusion zone has been finished thanks to the Professional Limestone Company.
The spectator safety fence for the almost practice ready track will be finished by contractors next week.
The club has also purchased a large ablution block to be installed and set up by Boeing plumbing and Mills Drainage Services.
Speedway WA's Club President John Ballantyne said of the progress, "We look forward to getting some bikes on the track to settle the surface in and it will be good to see a few new faces as we try to get the venue finished at least to a standard that will enable the club to run at least one or hopefully more meetings this season. It's becoming quite exciting as the club can see some reward for all the hard work being done by so many volunteers."
Motorcycling Western Australia's CEO, Rick Gill complimented all that have been involved to date with the development of the new track by saying "The work the speedway club members and volunteers have put into this new track is staggering. From a weed infested bush block has grown a new track for Western Australian, and Australian speedway that is set to become the benchmark for speedway tracks in this country. Thank you to all the volunteers who donated time, money and materials, it has been priceless. We are waiting with anticipation for the first bikes to be using the new track"
West Australian Speedway Solo and Sidecar competitors will be itching to put some laps in on the new big track and the spectators will be keen to see some action in the near future.
