Round 2 of the Make Smoking History Senior Motocross Championships
Despite bad weather being forecast, Round 2 of the Make Smoking History Senior Motocross Championships held at the Lightweight Motorcycle Club yesterday started with cloudy but fine conditions.  Only one heavy shower in the early afternoon and the bad weather moved on.
Track prep completed in the early hours of the morning and riders were happy with the conditions after qualifying.
Some riders had to work very hard to attain their podiums and a few riders came to grief on the track and we wish them a speedy recovery.

With Luke Gaisford out with an injury, the Make Smoking History Quad Champs saw Chris Bosnakis have a clear track and won the day. The minor placings were hard fought out all thru the day, although practice saw Michael Murphy break his machine and had to sit out the racing.  Things did not go to plan for our Women’s Quad #1 Rider, Jemma Merrylees with bike problems and then in Race 3 going upside down and being stuck under her machine. But she managed to right the machine with some help and continued to finish out the race. Chris Bosnakis leads the Championship by 32 points from Shaun Woodhead who has 5 points over Blake Croonen.

Round 2 Results:-
1st: Chris Bosnakis
2nd – Blake Croonen
3rd – Shaun Woodhead

Cullys Women's Championship was again won by Jess Moore but she did not have it all her own way as Hannah Bagnall, Chelsea Blakers and Lily Kent made her work for her wins. With no Courtney Hirst at this round, the ladies’ racing was great to watch and they all put in huge efforts for their results. Jess leads the Championship on 210 points with Hannah Bagnall 28 points behind on 182 points and Chelsea Blakers on 178 points.

Round 2 Results:-
1st:  Jess Moore
2nd – Hannah Bagnall
3rd – Chelsea Blakers

Motul Oils MX2 Championship was a thriller especially in third race between Josh Adams and David Birch banging bars and David coming out on top. Solid performances throughout the day from Codey Rowe, Dylan Sexton, Daniel Pajewski & Mitchell Outram.  The racing was awesome to watch from the 40 riders going into turn one and thundering throughout the 20 minute motos. David leads the Championship on 204 points from Josh Adams on 198 points and Dylan Sexton in third on 163 points.

Round 2 Results:-

1st – David Birch
2nd – Josh Adams
3rd – Daniel Pajewski

MX2 Repecharge Results:-

1st – Corey Johnson
2nd – Thomas Leeson
3rd – John Warden

Shannons Insurance MX1 Championship proved spectacular with Dean Porter having to fight very hard for his wins with Michael Mahon at his hard charging best. The top 10 positions changed constantly throughout each and every race and everyone was left guessing as to who was going to come out on top. The final race was a thriller with a couple of huge get offs that left Blair Outram with a broken femur and Tyson Whincup very battered and bruised.  This class is filled with very talented riders that don’t hold back and will not give up. The Championship stands at Dean Porter 210 points, Chris Ruttico 171 points with a 4 point lead over Michael Mahon 167 points.

Round 2 Results:-
1st: Dean Porter
2nd – Michael Mahon
3rd – Chris Ruttico

MX1 Repecharge Results:-

1st:-  Damien O’Brien
2nd – Corey Luksa
3rd – Cody Hunt

A huge thank you to the Lightweight Club Crew, although they are a small group they did a great job and to all the volunteers and officials on the day who worked their butts off.

The game plans will now change as the Series heads to the sand at AJS, Wattle Ave, Neerabup on June 18th for Round 3 – the battle will continue.  The Womens Championship take a rest but will be back later in the series and WAMX welcome back our Veterans Championship for the AJS Round.  This round also sees the 2 Stroke Cup as a Support Class, so dust off those 2 strokes and come and play in the sand.
